in midst of darkness
and insanity
of war
ruin
death
and despair
grant that I may be
just one
one of a host of sunflowers
to comfort
reach out
give aid
pray
and to think on these things
what is beautiful
what is pure
what is just
yet never forget
the sufferings of humankind
while still the Sovereign thread
and the joy of life
